What Is Supportive Sedation?

At Sixth Line Family Dental, our supportive sedation program includes local anesthesia and conscious sedation to relieve anxiety and allow patients to relax during their dental procedures. Our experienced team in Oakville prioritizes your safety and comfort, so we are more than happy to discuss your sedation options with you in detail upon your visit.

Getting nervous before a dental procedure is completely normal, so our team will explore your sedation options with you before your procedure.

Types of Sedation

At Sixth Line Family Dental, we provide local anesthesia and conscious sedation options to assist with calming anxiety and nerves prior to your procedure. Our experienced dentist uses these sedation methods, and your safety is always the priority.

Local anesthesia uses an anesthetic to temporarily numb a small area of your body, in this case, where your dental work is being performed. Local anesthesia may be ideal for procedures such as a tooth extraction. Unlike general anesthesia, local anesthesia won’t make you fall asleep.

Local anesthesia works by preventing nerves in the affected area from communicating sensations of pain to your brain. It’s sometimes used with a sedative and can help you relax.

Conscious sedation helps reduce anxiety, discomfort, and pain during certain dental procedures. This type of sedation is commonly used for people who feel anxious or panicked during procedures like fillings, root canals, or routine cleanings.

Conscious sedation is sometimes used with local anesthesia to induce relaxation.

A Relaxing Appointment

At our Oakville dental clinic your comfort is our priority, and our supportive sedation options are designed around the patient experience.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions on sedation dentistry and book an appointment with us today.
